Pay it Forward
A Random Act of Kindness
I was returning from Doctor’s appointment in Palm Desert when I had a blow-out on Interstate-10.

I was on the side of the freeway waiting for AAA, about 5 miles west of Desert Center in the California Mohave Desert, when Michael, a young man on his way back to Arizona after visiting with his mother and brother, pulled over and offered to help. It was more of a chore than he had expected because the last dealer to rotate the tires had messed up some of the lug nuts. He did not give up however and finally was able to change the tire and get me back on the road again.
As we pulled back on to the rode I noticed he stopped to see if he could provide another act of kindness, but they apparently had things under control.
Because of the spare, I had to drive 55mph in traffic going 75 to 85 (or more). Michael pulled in behind me in the slow lane and was letting all the cars and big rigs pass him as he was determined to see that I arrived safely at my turnoff in Blythe, CA. Yet another act of kindness. We waved goodbye as I took my off ramp and he went on home.
I am sure I slowed his arrival back home by at least two hours but he did not seem to be upset by that.
Michael certainly showed me an act of kindness that day that I will remember, appreciate and try to pass on to someone else.Thank you Michael.
